The Dick Dent Bird Sanctuary is a 10-hectare (25 acres) reserve located in Strand, South Africa, near the estuary of the Lourens River. This sanctuary was previously a waste water treatment works but has since been transformed into a protected area within the Lourens River Protected Natural Environment. Managed by the Helderberg Nature Reserve with assistance from the Somerset West Bird Club, the sanctuary now serves as a habitat for numerous water birds.
