Township Tour Highlights

Langa

Langa, meaning 'sun' in isiXhosa and named after the Chief Langalibalele, is the oldest formally planned township in South Africa. It was established in 1927 under the Urban Areas Act as a segregated Black residential area and became a major site of resistance during apartheid. Today it's a vibrant community with a rich heritage of music, art and activism.
