Time of year, family suitability, whether you want a first-time safari or a luxury lodge stay, whether you want to combine safari with the Garden Route or the winelands — all of these shape the recommendation. Families are always welcome, but child policies, minimum ages for game drives and lodge suitability vary by reserve. We confirm those details with the reserve at the time of booking so the experience matches the ages of everyone travelling. Couples and honeymoon travellers tend to lean toward overnight or multi-night lodge stays where the pace slows down.

Luxury lodge experiences are available at selected reserves. Where offered, room categories, inclusions and any special arrangements — private dining, honeymoon touches, photographic vehicles — are all confirmed at booking with the reserve itself. Wanderer does not own the lodges, but coordinates the experience end-to-end.

On the wildlife side, expectations matter. No responsible operator promises Big Five sightings, guaranteed animal encounters or specific species. Rangers work hard on every drive, but nature is nature. What we can promise is a well-planned safari — the right reserve for you, coordinated transfers, and a partner in Cape Town if anything shifts on the day.
