Cool Runnings

Cool Runnings is one of the most popular and exciting toboggan rides in Cape Town,

South Africa. It’s Africa’s first and only downhill toboggan track, located in the northern

suburbs of Cape Town, near Tygervalley. This unique attraction features a 1.25 km

stainless steel track where riders race down in a sled-like cart that is manually controlled

with a hand brake. It’s a thrilling experience for all ages, combining speed, control, and

stunning views of the surrounding hills.

Costs and Packages

As of 2025, the prices for Cool Runnings vary depending on the number of rides you

purchase. A single ride costs around R80 per person, but better value is offered with

multiple-ride packages:

3 rides for R200

6 rides for R300

Unlimited day passes are available on selected days for about R400

Group rates and party bookings are also available for schools, corporate events, and

birthdays. Children under the age of 8 must ride with an adult, and special combo deals

are often available during holidays and weekends.

What’s Included

All rides include access to the track, safety instructions, and use of the toboggan carts.

Helmets are not required, but safety briefings are mandatory. There’s an on-site café,

picnic areas, and shaded seating for spectators. Cool Runnings offers a safe, family
