Giraffe House – Family Fun Near Stellenbosch
The Giraffe House Wildlife Awareness Centre, nestled at the crossroads of R304 and R101 in Muldersvlei near Stellenbosch, offers a fun and educational adventure focused on African wildlife. Open every day from 09:00 to 17:00, this center invites visitors to learn about and interact with a variety of animals in a welcoming, family-friendly setting.
Admission is R85 for adults, R55 for kids aged 2–15, and R60 for seniors, while little ones under 2 can enter for free. When you arrive, you’ll get a feeding bucket to share food with animals like goats, chickens, cows, and ostriches. Don’t miss the daily interactive animal encounters at 11:00, 13:00, and 15:00, where you can meet and learn about all sorts of creatures, including reptiles and other intriguing species.
The center is home to a wonderful mix of animals, including Gerry the giraffe, eland, springbok, zebra, caracal, meerkats, Nile crocodiles, and a variety of birds like the blue crane. They also offer educational programs designed for school groups, focusing on wildlife conservation and awareness.
For the little ones, there’s a play area complete with jungle gyms and a giraffe-themed jumping castle (available on weekends, weather permitting). While there’s no restaurant on-site, a refreshment kiosk provides snacks and drinks. Feel free to bring your own picnic, but keep in mind that alcohol isn’t allowed on the premises.
If you’re planning a special event, Giraffe House has a charming 100-square-meter thatched lapa available for kids’ parties, which includes venue hire, a party pack, a feeding bucket, and access to the reptile show. Just remember to book in advance!
