The Blue Train Park

The Blue Train Park in Mouille Point, Cape Town, is a cherished spot for families, offering stunning views and a range of fun activities for kids. Nestled along the Atlantic Seaboard with the majestic Table Mountain in the background, the park features the charming “Old Lady” miniature blue train that winds around the play area, providing joyful rides for both kids and adults. Admission is R45 per person, which includes one train ride, and little ones under a year can enter for free. If you’re looking for more train rides, you can grab them for R35 each, or opt for a family pack of ten rides for R400.

The park is packed with various play structures, including jungle gyms, slides, a zip-line, dirt bike tracks, and an astro turf soccer pitch, catering to children aged 1 to 12. There’s also a kiosk on-site where you can grab snacks and refreshments.

Operating hours are from Wednesday to Sunday, 10:00 to 18:00, with the last train ride leaving at 17:30. The park is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays, as well as during particularly windy or wet weather.

For those planning a party, the park has dedicated seating areas complete with tables, chairs, and umbrellas. Guests are welcome to bring their own food, drinks, and decorations, but cooking and alcohol aren’t allowed.

Just a heads up, the park is currently undergoing some refurbishments, so a few play equipment pieces might not be available. However, the train and station are up and running, and visitors are encouraged to enjoy picnics in the designated areas.
